On this page we give you information about the growth of a Korat kitten.

The date of birth is 4 September
2002.
We had to nourish the
kitten from the 3rd till the 6th day because the mother had not enough milk.
We used KMR kitten milk and a small
bottle we got from the vet. The milk production was then sufficient and is was
not necessary
to continue to feed the kitten.
At the 7th day the eyes began to open
and at the 9th day they where completely open. The kitten is not able to see,
only light and
dark. When it is 2 - 2,5 weeks old it
can see clearly.
Now the kitten is 12 days old, and
more aware of it's surroundings. It's starting to groom itself and the motions are
getting more
controlled.
At the 21st day of the kittens life
it's really looking around and exploring the box where it is born.
The eyesight of the kitten is now
getting better and it can hear.
We see how fast such a small animal
is growing and we are astound and enjoy it every day. Some days it's weight is
gaining fast and
some days it is only a few gram's.
We prepare ourselves for the day it
climbs out of the box and our task begins.
Now the kittens is 3 weeks old and
exploring it's surroundings, the mother is constantly in the neighborhood and
making sounds to
let the kitten know where she is.
They already have simulated fights and the kitten try's to bite the mother.
The teats are coming trough and it is
biting on the carton box.
It can see very good now and it is
grooming itself before it gets to sleep.
The next days we are planning to
begin the litter box training.
The litter box training has begun on
4 October, the baby has pied one time in the carton box. But on the fifth she
has been on the litter box
by herself. We now put her into the
litter box after sleeping, drinking and eating and after a long sleep. It is
going very well.
She also eats canned foot for kittens
from 4 October, we give her a teaspoon of flesh two times a day. Sirikit can
also eat a bit of the flesh,
so she also gets some of the taste
and afterwards she grooms the kittens paws and mouth.
The kitten still drinks milk by the
mother and all her teat are coming trough. The simulated fights are now getting
more even, because
the little one bites in everything
she can reach (ears, paws, tail, etc.)
We have now started to give kitten
chunks so the mother and the kitten can eat them. For the kitten they are still
to hard to bite in, but she
tries to eat them. It drinks water
all by her self now.
Also she can jump 20 centimeter and
climb up to your knee to sit and sleep on your lap (nice and warm!)
The kitten is now 7 weeks old, she
can eat kitten chunks and eats more flesh (Hills kitten). When she gets hungry
she let you know!
She then runs to the kitchen and
starts to mew, and it gets louder and louder..... She runs though the house,
even on the stairs and
jumps on the radiator to sleep and
look outside. Now the kitten plays with toys, a ball, an old sock with a rope
and a fake mouse.
They chase each other and the kitten
makes a high back and a big tail. The kitten follows and attacks the tail of the
mother.
Also she climbs into the playing-post
till a height of 1.20 meter, at first she could get up but not down, but now she
climbs down to.
We also have dewormed the mother and
kitten at 6 weeks. And at 9 weeks she gets her first injection.
When the kitten is going to sleep on
your lap the mother wants to sleep there to, so you always have 2 sleeping cats
on your lap.
Pu-ying got her first injection, she
had to go alone to the vet. It was the first time without her mother and she was
doing all right till we
got into the vets waiting room. There
she was a little frighten, so I calmed her down, I stroked her a few times and
talked to her.
The vet gave her a checkup and a
injection and then we went home again.
Pu-ying is still drinking by her
mother now and then and she eats a lot. She plays the whole time, alone and with
her mother.
Now at 12 weeks we have to go again
and I am curious how it goes this time.
We went to the vet for the 12 week
injection. I took both Siri and Pu this time, because Siri had to go in January
for her yearly vaccination.
Pu was afraid this time, and the vet
had to take her out of the traveling-box including the sleeping basket. She is
already very strong!
He gave Siri also a short check up,
and said "what a small cat, she looks like a elderly kitten, now you always have
a cat who looks young".
Pu is now 17 weeks old and has
stopped drinking mother milk. This week for the first time Siri didn't wanted Pu
to lie beside her and she didn't
want to come close to her.
Pu didn't understand at first and
tried again, but then Siri growled at her. Now the last week she does more
things alone and they are not always
in each others neighborhood. They
still sleep together and Siri still grooms her.
Now Pu is so big that you can't
always see with cat is the "bad kitty ".......
