Welcome at the Dutch korat site!
This site is made to show how beautiful Korat cats are and to get more people in The Netherlands acquainted with the race. Why?
The 14th July 2000 my cat Plukkie deceased, it was a European shorthair en she reached the age of 18 years. She was my pet from 8 weeks old,
at that time I still lived at my parents house. You can understand that through the years we experienced a lot and the emptiness she left behind
was big.
After several weeks we started to look at the internet Pet Planet to see what kind of cat races existed. We looked mainly for races with short hair and
when we saw the picture of a korat we thought, wauw!
Then we gathered information about, who's breeding this cats, are there kittens at the moment, what's the character of a korat, do we and a korat
match and naturally what's the price of such a cat.
After a short time we found out that you could not get a korat kitten in The Netherlands, so we got it out of our minds. So we searched for another
race. Then we thought about the abbesijn, but it was not quite what we wanted. The korat stayed in our mind, so again we started to look for
breeders. Soon we learned about the fact that there where breeders active in Germany en Belgium, we called some breeders in Belgium and mailed
a breeder in Germany. In Belgium we found some breeders who had kittens, so we decided to go and look (at that time we had never seen a korat
in reality). We went to see a 4 weeks old kitten.
The breeder warned us for the fact that young korats look like aliens and certainly are not beautiful. The kitten we saw had indeed in proportion
too big ears and was bare in its neck (due to the fact that its mother carried it). But when she sat there on my hand and looked me in the eye I
was lost....., so we took an option at Sirikit (then she was 4 weeks old).
